“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil,” (Ephesians 6:10, 11).
Satan is alive and active in the world today. Peter wrote, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,” (I Peter 5:8). Satan will win the battle and steal our souls if we do not resist him, (I Peter 3:9).
When we have God on our side nothing can stop us on our journey to heaven, (Romans 8:31). Therefore it is up to each of us to find and maintain a security of the soul that is based in Christ and His word. Jesus stated, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” (John 8:32). Jesus Himself used scripture to overcome Satan when He was tempted in the wilderness, (Matthew 4:1-11). Paul exhorted the brethren at Corinth with the statement, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord,” (I Corinthians 15:58).
There may be times in our lives when it seems that Satan is winning the battle, but Paul reminded the brethren at Corinth that we can and will persevere as long as we keep Christ living in us, (II Corinthians 4:8-11). He stated, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, bet no forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” Regardless of the circumstances when we are true to God, He will be with us and will be our help in time of need, (Hebrews 4:16).
Jesus promised His followers that He would be with them, “even to the end of the world,” (Matthew 28:20). He would never forsake those who follow His word. He is our advocate and the covering for our sin, (I John 2:1, 2). Jesus will be there to help “When You are Challenged by the Enemy”.
David stated, “O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in peaces, while there is none to deliver,” (Psalm 7:1, 2). When the enemy seems to be winning, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths,” (Proverbs 3:5, 6).
