GOD’S FAMILY

EPHESIANS 5:21-33

INTRODUCTION:

A.  The family is to be a unit functioning in peace and harmony:

1.  Each member has duties and benefits within the family; Ephesians 5:22-28, 33; 6:1-4

2.  The church is God’s family; Ephesians 5:32

B.  Every Christian is a child of God and is to honor Him; Galatians 3:26-29

C.  Our lesson; “GOD’S FAMILY”

I.  THE FAMILY OF GOD IS THE CHURCH: Galatians 3:26-27

A.  The church is married to Christ; Romans 7:4

B.  As the bride of Christ the church is to be subject to Him; Ephesians 5:24

1.  The bride wears the name of Christ; Acts 11:26

2.  To be a Christian one must do all in the name of Christ, acting under His authority; Matthew 28:18

II.  GOD’S FAMILY IS ONE CHURCH: John 17:21-23

A.  The Ephesian letter speaks of unity that is fourfold:

1.  Attitude; Ephesians 4:1-3

2.  Faith/doctrine; Ephesians 4:4-6

3.  Ministry; Ephesians 4:7-16 (11-13)

4.  Lifestyle; Ephesians 4:17-5:33 (17)

B.  In fellowshipping with one another, the church fellowships with God; I John 1:3-7

C.  As the church is subject to Christ we are also accountable to one another; Ephesians 5:21

III.  GOD’S FAMILY WILL BE A LOVING FAMILY:

A.  The author in Hebrews stated; Hebrews 13:1

B.  Jesus commanded; John 13:34-35

C.  Without love Christianity is nothing; I Corinthians 13:1-3

CONCLUSION:

A.  The church family is important to God; Ephesians 5:23-27

B.  The greatest fellowship (relationship) on the earth is found in the body of Christ; I John 1:3
