FULFILLING GOD’S WILL
PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11
INTRODUCTION:
A. Jesus came to do the Father’s will; Hebrews 10:9
1. As the “Living Word” Jesus shared equality with God; John 1:1
2. Paul stated that Jesus was obedient; Philippians 2:8
B. Having obeyed God, Jesus prayed to be restored to His former glory; John 17:5
C. Jesus is our example for “Fulfilling God’s Will”
I. IN THE FORM OF GOD; JESUS WAS EQUAL WITH GOD: Philippians 2:6
A. John stated; John 1:1, 14
B. Paul stated that “made Himself of no reputation”; Philippians 2:7
1. He left His former glory to become a man and die for all of mankind; Philippians 2:8
2. As a man, Jesus became a loving servant; Philippians 2:7
C. When Jesus had fulfilled God’s will, He was highly exalted; Philippians 2:9-11
II. JESUS CALLS MAN TO SHARE IN HIS GLORY: Romans 1:3-7
A. Saints of God have been called to His light; I Peter 2:9
1. The Greek word “hagiÅs” is defined “sacred, consecrated, pure, holy, saints”
2. As saints we are to be conformed to the image of Christ; Romans 8:28-29
B. Like Jesus, saints are to fulfill God’s will; I Corinthians 11:1
1. Every Christian is to live a life which says “I am a child of God”; Romans 8:14-18
2. Each Christian is to be a godly example; I Timothy 4:12
C. When one shares in the glory of the Lord, he becomes a beacon of righteousness; Philippians 2:15
III. SHARING THE GLORY OF THE LORD:
A. Will always include suffering for Him; II Timothy 3:12
1. Peter wrote; II Peter 2:19-21
2. Paul suffered much for Christ, II Corinthians 11:23-28, and stated; Galatians 6:17
B. God glorifies all who will fulfill His will; Matthew 7:21
1. He adopts the obedient and they are His children; Galatians 4:4-6
2. They are made to be heirs of His eternity; Galatians 4:7
3. As joint-heirs with Christ, Christians will partake of His eternal glory; Romans 8:17
CONCLUSION:
A. Jesus left His home in glory in order to save you; Philippians 2:6-8
1. John wrote; John 3:16
2. The Hebrew writer stated; Hebrews 10:12-14
B. What will you do with Jesus?
C. Will you obey (fulfill) His will and receive the glory of every child of God?
