FROM A CROSS TO A CROWN
LUKE 9:18-27
INTRODUCTION:

I. DENY ONESELF FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST: Luke 9:23
A. To lose ones’ life is service to God; Luke 9:24
1. Paul told the brethren at Rome; Romans 12:1-2
2. Jesus told the people; Mark 8:34
B. One either serves Christ or sin; Romans 6:16
1. Those who serve God have a promise of salvation; Romans 6:23

II. TAKING UP THE CROSS: John 19:17-18
A. Jesus bore a physical cross for us; Hebrews 12:2-3
1. He sacrificed His body; Hebrews 10:10
2. He shed His blood; Ephesians 1:7
B. Our High Priest sacrificed Himself; Luke 9:22; Hebrews 9:11-12
1. The writer tells us; Hebrews 9:28
2. In life He served man, in death He saved man; Acts 10:38; Hebrews 9:22
III. TAKING UP THE CROSS INVOLVES SACRIFICE: Luke 9:23
A. When Jesus sent out the apostles He instructed them; Mark 6:8-9

CONCLUSION:
A. Will you take up your cross and follow Jesus? Luke 9:23
B. Will you lose your life in Jesus; let Him give you life? Luke 9:24
C. Will you become a living sacrifice? Romans 12:2; Galatians 2:20
