EASING A WORRIED MIND
MATTHEW 6:25-34

INTRODUCTION:
          A.    Worry has no earthly or heavenly benefit; Matthew 6:34
          B.    Worry is destructive, causing many diseases
          C.    Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could overcome 20% of our worries?
          D.    Our lesson:  “Easing a Worried Mind”


I.    JESUS SAYS; LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME:  
          A.    Forget yesterday and tomorrow; Matthew 6:34
                 1.    The birds and flowers; Matthew 6:26-32
                 2.    “Be not anxious” (ASV); Matthew 6:25, 34
                 3.    Matthew 6:28; “Why are you anxious?” (ASV)
          B.    Live today; Psalm 118:24
                 1.    Grasp each moment, make the most of it; I Thessalonians 5:16
                 2.    Don’t allow worries to box you in
                 3.    Don’t stumble, fret and worry; “Count Your Blessings”

II.    GOD TELLS US HOW TO OVERCOME WORRY:  Psalm 4:1-8
          A.    The Lord’s instruction; Matthew 6:33-34
          B.    We must reach out and let the Lord help; I Peter 5:7
          C.    A tested and proven route:  II Timothy 2:15
                 1.    Examine the facts:  What is the worse that could happen?
                        a.    Be honest, impartial, objective; Romans 12:17
                        b.    Don’t deceive yourself; James 1:22
                        c.    Think with your mind, not your emotions
                        d.    Look at every angle and use wisdom in deciding 
                 2.    When you have examined the issue, give it to God; Matthew 6:34
                 3.    Trust God and don’t worry about what you can’t change; Philippians 4:13
                 4.    Step out and do something to improve what you can; II Timothy 2:15


III.    GET BUSY WORKING FOR THE LORD:  II Thessalonians 3:10
        A.    “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop” not scripture but:
               1.    It causes suffering; Proverbs 19:15
               2.    Causes decay and failure; Ecclesiastes 10:18
               3.    One of Sodom’s sins; Ezekiel 16:49-50
        B.    No place for idleness in the Christian life:
               1.    Will answer even for idle words; Matthew 12:36-37
               2.    Idleness brings mischief and sin; I Timothy 5:13-14
               3.    “There Is Much To Do”; James 1:22
        C.    Give your life to Christ; Matthew 6:33; Romans 12:1-2
                1.    Obey Him; Matthew 7:21
                2.    Put your trust in Him and He will lighten your burdens; Matthew 11:28;                                            
I Peter 5:7;  Philippians 4:19


CONCLUSION:
        A.    Worry is a tool of Satan to destroy peace and happiness
        B.    We can overcome worry with God’s help; Philippians 4:13
        C.    “Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary”
        D.    Don’t wait, “Tomorrow May Be Too Late”
