DOES YOUR LIGHT SHINE?
PHILIPPIANS 2:12-18

B. The brethren at Philippi were told to “shine as lights in the world”;

2. The light of the righteous is designed to overcome , not embrace sin; Galatians 5:24-25
C. Our lesson “Does Your Light Shine?”
I. FOR YOUR LIGHT TO SHINE COMMITMENT IS NECESSARY: Romans 7:4
A. Commitment means giving oneself fully to God; Galatians 3:27
1. One’s life is to be committed; Matthew 16:25
2. A life committed in living to Christ; Philippians 2:21
3. Paul wrote; Romans 12:1
B. True commitment holds nothing back for selfish purposes; I Corinthians 6:19-20
C. Commitment means that one lives for God and lets God live through him;
II Corinthians 5:14-15
D. The life of a Christian is a blank check written to God; Galatians 2:20
II. ONE WHO IS COMMITTED WILL KEEP HIS LIGHT SHINING: Ephesians 4:1
A. Through meditation, study and devotion; Psalm 1:1-2
B. Through worship and praise; Revelation 4:11
C. Through his daily life; Colossians 3:12-15
D. The light of God is seen through holy living; Ephesians 4:22-24
III. “DOES YOUR LIGHT SHINE:”
A. In your home life? Ephesians 5:21-6:4 (Read 5:22, 25, 33; 6:4)
B. At work and in your neighborhood? Ephesians 6:5-7
1. Jesus stated; Mathew 19:19
2. Jesus taught; Matthew 7:12
C. Within the church family? Romans 12:18
1. Paul wrote; Ephesians 4:26
2. Nowhere should the Golden Rule be more important than among God’s people; James 1:19-21
CONCLUSION:
A. Every Christian is to be a shining light; Philippians 2:15
B. To be a shining light one has to allow God to work in his life; Philippians 2:12-13
