INTRODUCTION:

B. The religious world tells us:
1. “Baptism is just an act of submission to fulfill righteousness”
2. “One is saved by grace and faith, baptism is not necessary for salvation”

I. WHAT IS BAPTISM? Colossians 2:11-12
A. Baptism is a burial in water; Romans 6:3-4
B. Three Greek words:
1. “Baptizo” – means “to immerse; to bury”
2. “Rantizo” – is defined “to sprinkle; to render to be sprinkled”
3. “Ekchuno” – means “to pour; to pour out”
C. Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ; Romans 6:4
D. Baptism provides entrance into Christ and His church; Galatians 3:27
1. Paul wrote; I Corinthians 12:13
2. Luke recorded; Acts 2:41
E. Baptism is commanded by the Lord; Matthew 28:18-20
1. Paul was told; Acts 22:16

II. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BAPTISM?
A. To have ones’ sin remitted; Acts 2:38
B. Washes away sin; Acts 22:16
C. Baptism puts one under the blood of Christ; Romans 6:4
D. Baptism saves man putting him in Christ; I Peter 3:21
III. WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?
A. Hear the message of Christ; Romans 10:17

C. Repent (turning from) of sin; Romans 3:23; 6:23; Luke 13:3
D. Confess faith in Christ as God’s Son; Romans 10:10; Matthew 10:32-33
