INTRODUCTION:

 

            A.        The story of Nadab and Abihu is a strong message to man:

                        1.         They were sons of Aaron and priests of God; Leviticus 10:1

                        2.         They had the responsibility of keeping the fire burning on the altar of incense, it was to be a perpetual fire; Leviticus 6:12-13

                        3.         They allowed the fire to go out and offered strange fire before the Lord; Leviticus

                        4.         Nadab and Abihu were punished with death for their disobedience; Leviticus 10:

            B.        What was the problem that it cost Nadab and Abihu their lives?

            C.        Our lesson “Making a Difference”

I.          THERE IS OFTEN A DIFFERENCE:

             A.        There is a difference in God’s way and man’s way; Isaiah 55:8-9

             B.        Jeremiah the prophet stated; Jeremiah 10:23

             C.        Some things of man seem or look right but they cost him dearly; Proverbs 14:12; 21:2

             D.        Nadab and Abihu failed to see the difference in God’s way and their own; Leviticus 10:1

II.        THE PRIESTHOOD WAS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

             A.        Between what is holy and unholy; Leviticus 10:10

                        1.          So that God would not be dishonored; Leviticus 10:3

                        2.          God's punishment of Nadab and Abihu was just; Leviticus 10:3, 6

             B.       Christians must make a difference in what we believe and embrace; Matthew 16:16-19

                        1.          Only the truth saves; I Peter 1:22

                        2.          The apostles refused to obey the priests; Acts 5:29

                        3.          Jesus warned; Matthew 15:9

             C.        As God's priesthood the Christian life must be different from the world; Titus 2:11-12; Romans 8:13, I Peter 2:5, 9

CONCLUSION:

             A.       Are you a part of God's family? Acts 2:47

             B.       What difference are you making in the lives of those you touch; I Timothy 4:12
