INTRODUCTION:

                A.     God has provided everything; II Peter 1:4

                B.     Growth comes through personal effort; II Peter 1:5

                C.     Grace gifts must be added; II Peter 1:5-7

                D.     “Dunameece” = “inherent power” must be added to men

                E.     Our study “Assurance From God”

 

I.          THE CONDITION OF MAN:

            A.        Man is lost; Romans 6:23

                        1.         Jesus stated; “Not everyone…”; Matthew 7:21

                        2.         Only the obedient will be saved; Galatians 3:26-27

            B.        Babes must partake of the nature of God; I Peter 2:2

                        1.         Babes must grow in Christ; II Peter 3:18

                        2.         Never forget where you once were; II Peter 1:12-13

            C.        Some Christians lose their way; II Peter 1:9

 

II.        “THESE THINGS MAKE YOU”:  II Peter 1:8

              A.       Suited to offer abundant service; I Corinthians 15:58

              B.        Neither idle nor unfruitful; II Peter 1:8

                          1.         “An idle mind is the devils workshop”

                          2.         I Timothy 5:11-15; Matthew 28:18-20

 

III.       HASTEN TO MAKE YOUR CALLING AND ELECTION SURE:  II Peter 1:10

           A.        “Do not delay”; James 4:14

           B.        “Do not neglect”; Hebrews 2:1-3

           C.        “These things” assure one’s salvation; Hebrews 10:22-24; I John 5:11-13

           D.         Anything less than “these things” will not prevail; II Peter 1:9-11; 2:20-22

 

CONCLUSION:

           A.         Peter makes things clear; II Peter 1:2-11:  we must partake or die

           B.          Is God’s nature evident in our lives?

           C.          Let us hasten diligently to be like God; II Peter 1:5, 10
