INTRODUCTION:

           A.       As children our parents taught us to “Stop; Look; and Listen” before crossing a road

           B.       Danger signs are often posted to prevent accidents:

                     1.         “Detour”

                     2.         “Road Work”

            C.        In the same way there are many warnings signs concerning our spiritual state:  Isaiah 58:1; II Timothy 4:2

            D.        Our study today “Bible Warnings”

 

I.          ISRAEL’S CONDITION AND OBJECTIVE:

            A.        They sought God daily; Isaiah 58:2

                        1.         These facts paint a good picture of God’s people; Matthew 15:8

                        2.         The command to Isaiah; Isaiah 58:1

            B.        Israel sought God for her own purposes and on her terms; Isaiah 58:3-4

            C.        God tells the prophet to warn the people and remind them of God’s purpose; Isaiah 58:1, 5-12

            D.        Isaiah was to remind Israel to honor God; Isaiah 58:2

 

II.        GOD’S WORD STILL CARRIES MANY WARNINGS:

           A.         “Be not as the hypocrites”; Matthew 6:1-5, 16

           B.         “Preach (teach) the word”; II Timothy 4:1-5

           C.          Avoid false teachers; Romans 16:17

                        1.         John wrote; II John 9-11

                        2.         Paul stated; Galatians 1:6-10; 5:4

            D.        Do not be “partakers” in the sins of others; I Timothy 5:22

            E.         Do not “depart from the faith”; I Timothy 4:1-3

            F.         No sin can enter heaven; Revelation 21:27

            G.        Live holy lives; II Peter 3:14

 

CONCLUSION:

          A.        God’s children are to find a delight in serving Him; Isaiah 58:14

                     1.         They are to desire His word; I Peter 2:2

                     2.          The psalmist wrote; Psalm 1:1-3

           B.        In what do you delight?  Hebrews 10:22-24
