            A.        God keeps His promises to mankind; Joshua 23:14

            B.        God tells us that there is more to life than this world; John 14:3

            C.        Song “This World Is Not My Home” (page 684)

            D.        Our study “Promises of God: This World is Not My Home”

 

I.          CHRISTIANS ARE GOD’S SPECIAL PEOPLE:

            A.        Peter wrote; I Peter 2:5-10

                        1.         “Peculiar” – “Unique; different (from the world); special”

                        2.         “Chosen before the world began; Ephesians 1:4

            B.        What makes the Christian special?

                        1.         He has been redeemed by the blood of Christ; I Peter 1:18-19

                        2.         He has been born again; John 3:3-8; I Peter 1:22-23

                        3.         He has been adopted into the family of God; Ephesians 1:3-6

 

II.        GOD PROMISES THE CHRISTIAN:

            A.        That He will answer his prayers; James 1:5-6

            B.        That He will provide for his physical needs; Matthew 6:33-34

            C.        Provide strength to overcome evil; I Corinthians 10:13; Philippians 4:6-7, 13

            D.        Eternal life for all the faithful; Matthew 10:22; James 1:12

            E.         Wisdom to overcome the fear of death; I Corinthians 15:54-58

 

III.       HEAVEN IS THE GREATEST OF GOD’S PROMISES:

            A.        God is there; Matthew 5:16; 6:1-3

            B.        Jesus has gone to prepare it; John 14:1-3

            C.        Glory and beauty beyond human understanding; Revelation 21:10-27

            D.        A home filled with peace and harmony; Revelation 21:1-4

 

CONCLUSION:

            A.        No one wants to miss heaven (God’s special place):

                        1.         The alternative has dire circumstances; II Thessalonians 1:7-9

                        2.         Jesus stated concerning the unprepared; Matthew 25:46

            B.        Will you embrace the promises of God?

            C.        Are you content with what the world has to offer or will you give your life to                                Jesus and allow Him to save you?
