INTRODUCTION:

           A.       Mankind often seeks happiness in the wrong places and things

                     1.         Jesus taught; Luke 15:11-32

                     2.         Solomon could not find happiness in earthly wealth and fame; Ecclesiastes 2:1-11

          B.        The Hebrew word “e'sher” is defined “blessed, happy, happiness”,  as an      exclamation     “how happy”

                     1.        The Greek equivalent is “makarizo” and is defined “to pronounce     fortunate, to call blessed, to count happy, supremely blessed”

                     2.        Jesus used the word 9 times; Matthew 5:1-12

           C.        The Hebrew word “tâmaîym” is defined “without blemish, complete, full, without    spot, undefiled, upright, whole”

                       1.      The Greek word “ȁmíanitos” means “unsoiled, pure, undefiled”

                       2.     Paul wrote that Christ is the one who makes us whole; Ephesians 5:27

           D.         Our lesson “Those Who Are Undefiled In The Way”

 

I.             “BLESSED (HAPPY) ARE THE UNDEFILED IN THE WAY”:

            A.        God has a way; Psalm 119:1

                       1.       Happiness involves walking in God’s way; Psalm 119:1

                       2.        Happiness comes to those who give their whole self; Psalm 119:2

                       3.       The Roman letter states; Romans 12:1

           B.         Those walking in His way are not bound to sin;

                       1.         They do not seek out sin; Psalm 119:3

                       2.         These walk in God’s way; I John 1:7-9

                       3.         Paul wrote; Galatians 5:25

            C.         We must allow Christ to cleanse us of sin; I Peter 3:21

 

II.         HOW SHALL THE “YOUNG MAN CLEANSE HIS WAY”?  Psalm 119:9

             A.      The psalmist answered; Psalm 119:10

                       1.         Through obeying God; Ecclesiastes 12:1

                       2.         The whole heart must be involved; Psalm 119:10; II Corinthians 8:1-5

             B.        Paul told Timothy; I Timothy 6:1-4

             C.        Jesus will cleanse those who walk in His way; I John 1:7-9

 

III.       THE DANGER OF FAILING TO KEEP THE WAY:  Psalm 119:1

           A.        He did not want to wander from it; Psalm 119:11

                     1.        The importance of knowing the way; Psalm 119:11; II Timothy 2:15

                     2.         It would be shameful to forget the Lord’s will; Psalm 119:6-7

           B.         The psalmist asked that God not forsake him; Psalm 119:8

           C.         Every child of God should delight in His way; Psalm 119:12-16

 

CONCLUSION:

           A.        Jesus will never forsake His followers; Hebrews 13:5

           B.         Will you find joy in giving your life to God?  Psalm 119:1-2
