INTRODUCTION:

            A.        God does not accept second place in the lives of His people; Matthew 6:33

            B.        One cannot love this world and please God; I John 2:15-16

            C.        What is involved in “Conforming to God”?

            D.        The hymn “None of Self and All of Thee” clearly protrays God's will for those who would please Him: Theordore Monod wrote (Verse 1)                             

 

I.          GOD AND THE WORLD:

            A.        Many have no regard for God and His word; Isaiah 30:9-10

                        1.         Solomon wrote; Proverbs 23:9

                        2.         Jesus stated; Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)

            B.        John wrote; I John 2:15

            C.        There is no room for unrighteousness within God’s family; I John 1:5

            D.        The religious world often treats Jesus like an ornament of convenience;

                        James 4:13-17

 

II.        MANY CLAIM TO KNOW GOD BUT REFUSE HIS WORD: Matthew 15:8

            A.        Give a little of themselves (Song verse 2); Paul wrote; Romans 12:1-2

            B.        One cannot conform to God without giving his heart to Him; Psalm 111:1

            C.        Jesus stated; John 12:44-48

                        1.         Willful sin in forsaking the way of God; Hebrews 10:25-26

                        2.         Vacationing without thought of God; (Little boy and his family)

                        3.         Some today are like the Romans; Romans 6:1-2

 

III.       CONFORMING TO GOD CONQUERS ALL:  (Song verse 4)     

            A.        Be transformed; Romans 12:1-2

                        1.         John wrote; I John 5:4

                        2.         Paul wrote concerning the Gentile nations; Ephesians 4:17-19

                        3.         Christians are told; Ephesians 4:20-24

            B.        To conform to God one must give his whole heart; Matthew 19:21-22

            C.        The 1st Century church; Acts 2:44-46

                        1.         Barnabas; Acts 4:36-37

                        2.         The churches of Macedonia first gave themselves to the Lord;

                                    II Corinthians 8:1-5

CONCLUSION:

            A.        Have you given your whole heart to the Lord; Psalm 111:1

            B.        Does the world see Jesus living in you? Galatians 2:20
