INTRODUCTION:

 

            A.        Comforting to feel contentment; I Timothy 6:6; I Corinthians 10:12

            B.        “I’m satisfied” is often heard from those practicing error; I Corinthians 10:11-12

            C.        Spiritual satisfaction often stifles growth and progress; “Go” and do;

                        Matthew 28:19

            D.        A look at the only true source of “Spiritual Satisfaction”

 

  I.        WHY SOME ARE SATISFIED SPIRITUALLY:

           

            A.        Only desire to preserve status quo; II Chronicles 8:14

            B.        Doing a little more than they did before; Luke 17:10

            C.        Lack of interest; Luke 8:14

            D.        See little of what might be done; Matthew 15:14; II Peter 1:9

 

 II.       SOME BIBLE EXAMPLES OF  SELF-SATISFACTION:

 

            A.        The rich man; Luke 12:15-21

            B.        The Pharisee; Luke 18:9-14

            C.        The church at Laodicea; Revelation 3:15, 18-19

 

III.       MUST NOT CONFUSE COMPLACENT SATISFACTION WITH ACCEPTANCE:

 

            A.        Men must accept God’s way; Proverbs 16:25; II Corinthians 10:18

            B.        Example cited; James 4:6

            C.        The Samaritans and Simon; Acts 8:9-11

            D.        Must not be satisfied without obedience; Psalms 119:6

 

CONCLUSION:

 

            A.        Self-satisfaction is a sure road to destruction; I Corinthians 4:2

                        1.         Salvation is from God; Titus 2:10-12

                        2.         We must obey Him; Romans 10:17

            B.        The psalmist; Psalms 17:15

            C.        Are you obeying God?  Are you satisfied with your spiritual condition?
