INTRODUCTION:

A. Ours is an age of unbelief: lifestyles testify of unbelief; Romans 1:28-31

B. Consequences of unbelief are serious, (eternal)

1. Brings misery; Romans 1:21-31

2. Also bring deaths; Romans 1:32; 6:23

C. Our study; “Religious Confusion”

 

I. CONSIDER THE EVIDENCE CONCERNING GOD:

A. Testimony of creation; Romans 1:20

1. David discusses the universe and its testimony; Psalm 8:1-3

2. Paul at Lystra; Acts 14:14-17

3. In Athens; Acts 17:22-31

B. The reality of Universe and its law of order:

1. Sun, moon and stars show evidence of God; Psalm 19:1-3

2. Agriculture: Sowing and reaping; Galatians 6:7-8

3. The very nature of man; Psalms 139:14

C. In spite of the evidence: Romans 1:28

 

II. WHAT CAUSES RELIGIOUS CONFUSION: Romans 1:21-32 (28)

A. Mankind developed false views of God; Romans 1:21-22

B. With false views of God, man lost sight of his purpose; Romans 1:21-31 (21, 28)

1. Perverted passions took control of man’s life and destiny; Romans 1:26-31

2. Man lost his ability to reason from God to righteousness; Romans 1:28

C. The consequences: Loss of ability to discern and death; Romans 2:5-11

 

III. CONFUSED PEOPLE CAN BE CHANGED: ROMANS 1:16-17

A. God has the power to change man; Romans 1:16

B. He is able to communicate with man; Hebrews 1:1-2

C. God loves and is able to save man; Romans 5:6-10; 6:17-18

D. Jesus saves from the guilt, shame, and consequence of sin; Romans 6:6; Romans 5:1; 3:23

E. The power of sin, or the law of sin; Romans 8:1-3

 

CONCLUSION:

A. There is reason to believe; Romans 1:20

B. No God, no sin; Romans 3:23

C. No God, no Christ to save us; Romans 5:8-10; I Corinthians 15:19

D. Do you believe in God?
