INTRODUCTION:

            A.        God’s people have always been given labor or work:

                        1.        Adam was to dress and keep the garden; Genesis 2:15

                        2.        Noah was to build an ark; Genesis 6:14

            B.        While it is not a popular thing to teach, God has also given us a work which we must do; Luke 10:2; John 4:35

            C.        Our lesson “Working With God”

I.          CHRISTIANS MUST GROW TO MATURITY:  Hebrews 5:11-14

            A.        The brethren at Corinth were carnal (of the flesh); I Corinthians 3:1

                        1.         They were spiritually weak and divided; I Corinthians 3:3

                        2.         Their allegiance was to man more than Christ; I Corinthians 3:4

            B.        Paul points out that:

                        1.         Division is sinful; I Corinthians 1:10

                        2.         Christ is not divided and those who belong to Him must be one;

                                    I Corinthians 1:13

            C.        A body divided will destroy itself; Matthew 12:25

 

II.        “WORKERS (LABOURERS) TOGETHER WITH GOD”:

             A.      In everything we do, the glory belongs to God; I Corinthians 10:31

                       1.          We must not elevate or think too highly of ourselves; Matthew 23:12; Philippians 2:3

                        2.      Paul points out that a united body is needed and that it is God who gives fruit to our labors;  I Corinthians 3:7-8

             B.      A congregation filled with carnal minds cannot stand; I Corinthians  1:10; 3:3

             C.      Every member of the Lord’s body has a work in the vineyard; I Corinthians 3:5-8

III.       “YE (CHRISTIANS) ARE GOD’S HUSBANDRY, GOD’S BUILDING:”

             A.     “Husbandry” – “gẻōrgŏs” – “land-worker; farmers; field hands”; Luke 10:2

             B.     “Building” – “ŏikŏdŏmē” - “dwelling (place); house; temple”; I Corinthians 3:16-17; II Corinthians 6:16

             C. Paul tells us that some “plant” others “water” but God gives the increase; I Corinthians 3:7

CONCLUSION:

            A.        Are you a part of the Lord’s family?

            B.        What work (labor) are you willing to do?
