B. Those who adhere are often called fanatics: Acts 26:24
1. “Fanatic” = “extreme devotion without questioning”
2. Paul wrote; I Corinthians 1:18
C. To love God, we must also love His Word; John 14:15
D. Our topic “Loving God’s Word”
 
I. LOVING GOD’S WORD REQUIRES SUBJECTION: Psalms 119:97
A. Love involves dedication to the word; Psalms 119:100-102
B. John’s encouraging words; I John 2:5
C. Fascination with the word is not enough; John 8:31-32
 
II. LOVING GOD’S WORD REQUIRES MEDITATION:
A. “Meditation” = “Rehearsing the contents in one’s mind”; Psalms 1:1-2
B. “To think inwardly”; Philippians 4:8
C. The nature of the Word demands meditation; II Peter 3:16; John 6:60
D. The Word is our measuring standard; II Timothy 2:15; II Corinthians 13:5
 
III. LOVING GOD’S WORD REQUIRES CONTINUATION: Psalms 119:100-103
A. God’s word is not merely a stepping stone; Acts 2:42, 46
B. The Psalmist continued in spite of the odds:
1. Was familiar with afflictions; Psalms 119:143
2. Concern for material things would not distract him; Psalms 119:127
3. Personal safety could have been major; Psalms 119:114
4. Enemies threatened; Psalms 119:84-87, 98
5. Others left God, David held on; Psalms 119:115-120
6. David hated “every false way”; Psalms 119:104
C. We too must continue in the Word; I Corinthians 15:58
 
CONCLUSION:
A. God’s Word is our means of sanctification; John 17:17
B. It leads to our salvation; Romans 1:16
C. Are we obeying the Word of Truth? James 1:25
