INTRODUCTION:

 

            A.        “Heaven” – “The invisible arch in which the clouds move, as well as the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve; also heaven (implies elevation) as the sky; the abode of God and by implication happiness, power, eternity, air”

            B.        The Bible mentions three heavens; II Corinthians 12:1-4; Matthew 5:16

            C.        Our study today; “God Has Prepared a City” 

 

I.          HEAVEN IS THE CITY WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED:  Acts 7:48-49; Psalm 11:4

            A.        The angels are in heaven; Matthew 18:10

            B.        Jesus came from heaven:

                        1.         John wrote; John 1:1, 14

                        2.         Luke’s record; Acts 1:9-11

                        3.         Stephen’s vision; Acts 7:56

                        4.         Luke’s prediction; Acts 1:11

            C.        A closer look at the city which God has prepared

 

II.        GOD’S CITY IS PREPARED FOR A PEOPLE WHO ARE PREPARED:

            Revelation 21:7-8

           A.        The city was promised by Jesus; John 14:1-3

           B.         It is described as a better country; Hebrews 11:16

           C.         God’s city is the reward of the righteous; I Peter 1:1-5

 

III.       GOD’S CITY IS A PLACE OF JOY AND PEACE:

            A.       Freedom from sin and condemnation;  Romans 8:1

            B.       The city Abraham longed for; Hebrews 11:10

            C.       The nations of the saved will be there; Revelation 21:24-25

            D.       A land free of suffering and death; Revelation 21:1-7

            E.       A city with beauty beyond human imagination; Revelation 21:11-27

 

CONCLUSION:

            A.        Our song book contains 53 songs about heaven

            B.        Have you prepared to enter the city of God”?
