“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another” (I John 4:9-11).

Dottie Rambo wrote, “He left the splendor of heaven, Knowing His destiny, Was the lonely hill of Golgotha, There to lay down His life for me. If that isn’t love, The ocean is dry; There’s no stars in the sky, And the sparrow can’t fly! If that isn’t love, Then heaven’s a myth; There’s no feeling like this, If that isn’t love.” John recorded, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Paul wrote, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” (Romans 5:6-10).

Dottie Rambo wrote, “Even in death He remembered, The thief hanging by His side, He spoke with love and compassion, Then He took him to Paradise. If that isn’t love, The ocean is dry; There’s no stars in the sky, And the sparrow can’t fly! If that isn’t love, Then Heaven’s a myth, There’s no feeling like this, If that isn’t love.” From the very beginning God’s love for man has been manifested in the things He prepared for him: He gave Adam a garden home (Genesis 2:8).  He promised Abraham that He would give his descendants a land which “flowed with milk and honey” (Exodus 3:8); He also delivered the kingdom to them, as promised (Joshua 23:14). He remembered the thief and took him to paradise (Luke 23:43).

God is always faithful to His people and keeps His promises. Paul told Titus that God “cannot lie” (Titus 1:2).  Jesus told His disciples that He would give them a place in His Father’s house (John 14:1-3). Jesus gave His body and blood as the only perfect sacrifice sufficient for the saving of the souls of mankind (Hebrews 9:11-14). Jesus also promises eternal life to all who do “the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).

In his second letter to Timothy, Paul wrote, “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing” (II Timothy 4:6-8). Paul had no doubt concerning his eternity.  Peter wrote of the coming of the Lord and stated that we should be “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?  Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness” (II Peter 3:11-13).

The hope that is found only in Jesus can be yours. God is still faithful concerning His promises. It is up to you to make the choice; where will you dwell in eternity (Matthew 25:46)? John wrote, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (I John 5:13).

Is your name written in the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:27)?
