INTRODUCTION:

            A.       All who are in Christ have the hope of eternal life; Titus 1:1-2         

                     1.         Salvation is through the grace of God; Titus 2:11

                     2.        Grace comes through the preaching of the gospel; Titus 1:2-4

                     3.        Grace teaches us how to act in this present world; Titus 2:12

            B.       Hope is the anchor of the soul; Hebrews 6:18-19

             C.      Our text points us to “God’s Grace and the Hope It Brings” to all who obey Him

 

I.          CHRISTIANS ARE “LOOKING FOR THAT BLESSED HOPE”: Titus 2:11-12

            A.        “Looking for” – “To await (with confidence or patience)”

                        1.         Jude wrote that we should look for the mercy of God which leads to eternal life; Jude 1:21

                        2.         The faithful wait for the coming of the Lord with longing; II Peter 3:12

            B.        Our hope lies in Christ Jesus who gave himself for us; Hebrews 12:1-2;

                        Titus 2:11-12

 

II.        CHRISTIANS LONG FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD:

            A.       The promise of His coming; John 14:1-3

                      1.        Paul wrote; I Corinthians 15:51-57; I Thessalonians 4:13-18

                      2.        Peter exhorted; II Peter 3:10-14

            B.        With these thoughts in mind we must be workers together with God; Titus 2:14

 

III.       GOD’S PEOPLE MUST BE TRUE TO HIS WORD:

            A.        Zealous of good works; Titus 2:14

                        1.         Faith demands that we be workers; Galatians 5:6

                        2.         The Hebrew writer stated that we are raised to serve God; Hebrews 9:14

                        3.         James tells us; James 2:14, 17, 24, 26

            B.        Faith works to fill the needs of others; James 2:14-17

CONCLUSION:

            A.        What has your faith prompted you to do?  James 2:26

            B.         Are you longing for the coming of the Lord?
