INTRODUCTION:
 

A.        Jesus is the perfect example of how Christians should live; I John 3:1-3                  

            1.         He committed no sin; I Peter 2:22

            2.         He did not seek self-glory while in the flesh; Philippians 2:6-8

            3.         He became our sacrifice; I Peter 2:24

B.        If we are to be like Christ, we must also be willing to sacrifice ourselves;

            I Peter 2:21; I Thessalonians 2:9-10

            1.         Become a living sacrifice; Romans 12:1

            2.         Paul told Timothy; II Timothy 3:12

C.        Our lesson “Christ Our Example of Purity”

 

I.          CHRIST COMMITTED NO SIN:

            A.         Peter stated that He did no sin; I Peter 2:22

            B.         He fulfilled the will of His Father; John 17:4; Acts 3:18

            C.         Those who seek to be like Christ must also live pure lives; I John 3:3

                         1.          Through the blood of Christ; I Peter 2:24

                         2.          Once purified, we must keep pure; I Timothy 5:22

            D.         Christians must strive “To Be Like Jesus”, (Song)

 

II.        “NEITHER WAS GUILE FOUND IN HIS MOUTH”:  I Peter 2:22

             A.        Greek “dǒlǒs” = “to decoy, to use a trick, wile– craft, guile, subtlety”

                         1.         Jesus used neither speech to deceive nor trickery to manipulate; His word

                                      and actions were true to God; I Peter 2:23

                         2.         His mission was life and death; I Peter 2:24

             B.        “We are as sheep going astray”; I Peter 2:25a; Romans 3:23

                         1.         Only through Christ are we enabled to return to God; I Peter 2:25b

                         2.         To be like Christ, we must rid ourselves of all deceitfulness;

                                     I Peter 2:24; II Corinthians 12:16

 

CONCLUSION:

            A.        Let us follow in the steps of Jesus so that our lives will reflect Him; I Peter 2:21

            B.        We must walk in the way that pleases God; I Thessalonians 2:12; Ephesians 4:1

            C.        We must not live deceitful lives but truly submit to God; I Thessalonians 2:1-5;

                        I Timothy 1:5

            D.        Are you a part of “God’s Family”?  Does your life truly reflect Christ? 

                        I Peter 3:10; John 1:47
